- Help FabricAid become fully active.
- Empower individuals by promoting responsible waste management, economic empowerment, and environmental awareness, creating a practical and inclusive approach to sustainability that inspires positive global change.
Eco-Bank Business Model: Eco Currency
A unique shopping experience where all goods are sold at a discounted value, using waste as the eco-currency. This innovative approach allows community members to exchange recyclable materials for essential groceries, fresh produce, and household items, fostering economic empowerment and environmental responsibility.
Key Components of the EcoHub
Dekkenit
Fully operational and constantly evolving, the store offers goods at discounted values using waste as the eco-currency.
Hamra Bella Boutique & We Deserve Better Bookstore
Offer upcycled goods and educational supplies, emphasizing sustainable consumer choices.
Fabric Aid
A new partner in the EcoHub, providing affordable, quality second-hand clothing and supporting sustainable fashion practices.
EcoPlayground
Constructed using recyclable materials to encourage learning and play.
EcoBank
A new banking opportunity where waste is deposited and added to customers’ accounts, then either converted to dollars or the eco-currency. This innovative model promotes responsible waste management and provides a unique way for community members to gain financial empowerment through environmental stewardship.
Workshops & Cultural Events
Offering diverse workshops in upcycling, sustainable crafts, and arts to the community, alongside cultural events like music, dance, and theater performances. Plans to expand the workshop space to accommodate more participants and a wider variety of activities.
Impact
The implementation of the EcoHub is already underway. We have partnered with Re-Fuse, a founding partner, to establish a waste collection unit. Additionally, the Urban Hive and the Catalytic Action Playground are expected to be up and running soon, further enhancing the offerings of the EcoHub, as well as We Deserve Better who will be in charge of the education.
Through the EcoHub, we strive to empower the community, raise eco-awareness, and lead the way toward environmental sustainability. We believe that through creativity and community engagement, we can make a significant impact in preserving our planet.
